Role: Junior Caseworker:

Working For: Anna Dixon MP

Location: Shipley Constituency Office

Salary: £24,000-£28,000 depending on experience

Length of Contract: Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Key responsibilities

  • Manage large numbers of standard queries, assist on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.

  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.

  • Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken

  • Draft responses to constituents

  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation.

  • Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members.

  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP.

  • Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.

  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

Person Specification

Essential:

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a public service / charity environment

  • Experience of working with high volumes of correspondence

  • Knowledge of institutions, systems and processes which are likely to be relevant to constituent casework

  • Ability to identify patterns in data, and to effectively articulate these to others

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Initial interviews will take place in w/c 27 January in person (or online if needed), with the successful candidate starting as soon as possible thereafter.
