Anna Dixon MP at Grange Park Surgery

Anna Dixon, the MP for Shipley, has described the newly opened extension to Grange Park Surgery in Burley-in-Wharfedale as "an outstanding example" of local health services.

At the grand opening of the new facilities, Anna Dixon praised the partners and GPs at the surgery, as well as Bradford Council and NHS leadership, for their successful collaboration in bringing the project to completion.

Construction of the extension began in June 2024, with funding sourced from the Community Infrastructure Levy, a grant from the NHS, and a loan taken out by the partners.

At the opening, Anna Dixon MP stated, “It is fantastic to be here today for the opening of the new extension at Grange Park Surgery.

“I want to thank the GP partners at Grange Park, Bradford Council councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, along with everyone else who contributed to making this project a reality.

“Even before I was elected as the MP for Shipley, I worked hard alongside the excellent local councillor Chris Steele to push for Community Infrastructure Levy funding from Bradford Council for the project. I am incredibly proud for everyone involved to now be here and see it completed.

“I also had the pleasure of visiting Grange Park with the now Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, last June, just as the work was beginning. I was able to show him all the fantastic and innovative work happening here and stressed to him how vital the extension would be to ensure that all local residents can continue to access high-quality services.

“The new Labour government is committed to getting our NHS back on its feet and ensuring it is prepared for the future. Practices like this are an outstanding example of neighbourhood health services which will be central for the NHS going forward.

“Nine months into government, the proof that we are starting to fix the NHS is plain to see. We have recruited 1,500 new GPs, to reduce frustrations in accessing appointments. Waiting lists have fallen for the sixth month in a row, where Conservatives let them skyrocket.”
