Anna Dixon MP for Shipley has today stated her support for the local community to take ownership of the Bingley Pool building in her constituency.
Ms Dixon successfully used her influence as the local Member of Parliament to secure access to the Bingley Pool Building this week, and was joined by volunteers from Friends of Bingley Pool and Town Councillors to assess its current condition.
During the visit to the pool building, the MP said: "Bingley Pool is a beautiful building of significant local value, and I am working to keep it for the local community.
"It was fantastic to gain access to the building last week, and I was pleased to be joined by volunteers from Friends of Bingley Pool and Town Councillors to assess its current condition.
“Since I was elected MP, I have been consistently raising Bingley Pool in the House of Commons and with our Government ministers. We now have a great opportunity to secure the future of the Bingley Pool building for our local community, and the next step is to develop a strong business case for the community asset transfer.
“The pool building holds special meaning for so many people in Bingley and beyond. I encourage anyone with memories of it to share those stories with me or with the Friends of Bingley Pool as well as ideas for how the building could be brought back into use.”
