Shipley MP organises local walks to raise money for carers

Anna Dixon, MP for Shipley is encouraging constituents to sign up to join her fundraising walk to support unpaid and family carers in the Bradford district.
The Shipley MP will host the Shipley Walk for Carers fundraiser on Sunday, 21st September, aiming to raise awareness and funds for the local charity, Carers’ Resource.
The event on the day will be three walks across the Shipley constituency, converging at the Skills Kitchen Saltaire, which provides training for people with learning disabilities.
The event will be supported by local walking groups, including Bingley, Baildon and Burley in Wharfedale Walkers are Welcome groups, the University of Bradford and Bradford 2025.
It follows a similar Walk for Carers event hosted by Anna Dixon in 2023, which successfully raised over £ 1,000 for Carers' Resource.
Anna said: “I am delighted to once again host this event aimed at raising crucial funds for Carers’ Resource, which offers practical and emotional support to unpaid carers of all ages.
“Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to improving outcomes for carers and older and disabled people. When I was elected as the MP for Shipley, I pledged to be a voice for unpaid carers at the national level.
“Over the past year, I have worked hard to fulfil that commitment, and I am proud to have been personally acknowledged by the Chancellor for my role in increasing the earnings limit for Carers’ Allowance.
“I have seen first-hand the amazing love that carers of all ages give to family members who need care and support. The walk aims to bring everyone together around this important cause to raise the profile of unpaid family carers.”
The first walk will set off from Burley in Wharfedale station at 8.30 am.
The second walk will set off from Baildon Westgate (via Baildon Moor) at 10.15 am.
The final walk will set off from Bingley Arts Centre at 11am.
Each walk will be led by an experienced walk leader.
