Anna Dixon, the Member of Parliament for Shipley, met today with the Minister for Democracy and Local Growth to advocate for funding the Bingley Swimming Pool project.

The West Yorkshire MP has campaigned strongly for the pool redevelopment's funding following the new government's discovery of a £22 billion hole in the country’s finances.

The Conservatives had pledged over £14 million of levelling-up money to Bingley; however, it has since become clear that this promise was hollow and that the money was never there to be given.

This led to the freezing of all Levelling Up projects that had yet to progress beyond Stage 2, including Bingley Pool.

Ms Dixon has previously spoken about Bingley Swimming Pool in the House of Commons and written directly to Alex Norris MP in recent months to make the case for the project's full funding.

The project's future will not be confirmed until the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, delivers the budget this Wednesday.
